Take the Next Step in Mastering Your Selvedges!
Have you wondered how different structures affect your selvedges? Would you like to learn how to adjust your technique while taking into account the nuances of each structure before you start weaving?
In this second course on selvedges from Sara Bixler, you’ll build on the basics from Weave Better Selvedges, to learn how to apply Sara’s time-tested tips for managing your selvedges with specific structures in mind.
You’ll see real examples of more than a dozen structures to help you visualize edges, and then learn the various ways to adjust and perfect selvedges in your own weaving. Sara includes selvedge strategies for:
- Block Doubleweave
- Crackle Weave
- Taqueté
- Turned Monks Belt
- Overshot
- Lace Structures
- Deflected Doubleweave
- Color-and-Weave
- And many more!
Different weave structures present various types of selvedge challenges to weavers. Some structures benefit from being woven with floating selvedges or with a temple. In others, planning way ahead for edges makes them look better—while also improving the stability of your final piece. This video covers all of those strategies, and more!
As you watch this video, you’ll learn:
- When floating selvedges are most useful (and when they’re not necessary)
- How to manage edges when using supplementary threads
- The fine points of selvedges on painted warps
- How a temple can help you fight draw-in
- A simple way to provide extra structure along fabric edges
Don’t let your selvedges be an afterthought! Join Sara today to build on and expand your selvedge knowledge with this informative video.
