After the engagements of Jane and Elizabeth at the conclusion of Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Bennet remarks: "If any young men come for Mary or Kitty, send them in, for I am quite at leisure." These men's socks are designed for elegant leisure hours. The yarn is luxurious and a touch heavier than a typical sock yarn, but it is delicate enough that it's worth saving these socks for quieter hours. Finished Size: 81/4 (9, 93/4)" foot circumference and 10 (11, 111/2)" from back of heel to tip of toe. Socks shown measure 9".
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Bugga! (70% superwash Merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon; 400 yd [366 m]/4 oz [113 g]): #Y008 malachite butterfly, 2 skeins. Note : This yarn is no longer available; see Yarn Sources for more information.
Needles: Leg and Foot—size 2 (2.75 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn); Heel and toe—size 11/2 (2.5mm): set of pn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); stitch holder; tapestry needle.
Gauge: 39 sts and 76 rows = 4" in charted patt on larger needles; 32 sts and 42 rows = 4" in St st on smaller needles.
