PieceWork's March/April 2011 issue is devoted to color in textiles--from the red fabrics found in Tutankhamen's tomb to Japan's striking indigo-dyed fabrics re-enforced and/or embellished with stitching. And there's a lot of "eye candy"--glorious photographs of some of the colorful materials that we use in our own creative endeavors! Projects in this issue include socks and wrist warmers to knit; redwork, Berlin work, sashiko, and "Festival Flowers" to stitch; and a looped string bag based on traditional bags from New Guinea. Each of the articles illustrates why color has been a major factor in the long history of textiles. Welcome to our celebration of colorful textiles!
