"Modern Muffatees" is an adaption of two patterns produced by needlework book editors George Curling Hope and his mother. The Hopes produced a number of patterns for muffatees, which were simply straight-knitted tubes to cover the wrist.

Finished size: 7 inches (17.8 cm) hand circumference and 7 inches (17.8 cm) long
Yarn:
Blacker Yarns Pure Ryeland, 4 ply, 100% wool yarn, fingering weight, 190 yards (173.7 m)/50 gram (1.8 oz) ball, 1 ball of White
Needles:
pair of size 2½ (3 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions:
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
25 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in patt
