Fashionable ladies of the Regency period wore intricately draped sheer gowns with low necklines and used diaphanous scarves to cover their shoulders. These lightweight scarves served as an inspiration for this design. With its delicate lace pattern reminiscent of a beautiful bouquet of flowers, the shawl could be worn by Emma on her wedding day.
