From Margaret Hubert:

“For this project, I chose the picot mesh stitch, because it reminds me of the traditional Clones knot that usually is used for joining motifs in Irish crochet but takes less work and time. Using this method, you can complete a garment and leave it as is or embellish it as much or as little as you like. I have experimented with many types of yarn, but I find that a lightweight yarn truly gives the feeling of the lovely old pieces. Even though this project offers an easier way to create the look of Irish crochet, it still requires some experience and is not a project for beginners.”
