The Star of Rag Rugs to Knit Knitting Pattern Download

I saw a photograph of this rug in a book about American folk art published in the 1970s that I found in the public library when I was doing research for my first book, The Knitted Rug (Asheville, North Carolina: Lark Books, 2004). This version is identical to the original except that it is made out of yarn made from recycled T-shirts.

Materials required

• Ribbon XL, 80% recycled cotton/20% other recycled fibers yarn, bulky weight, 142 yards (129.8 m)/250 gram (8.8 oz) skein, 3 skeins of Solid Black (MC), 2 skeins each of Denim Blue (CC1) and Sporty Grey (CC2), and 1 skein each of Medium Grey (CC3), Apple Green (CC4), and Passion Purple (CC5); www.hoooked.nl/ribbonxl
• Needles, size 10½ (6.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Sewing needle and thread

Finished size: 33 x 43 inches (83.8 x 109.2 cm)
Gauge: 13 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in garter st
